Here's another piece of information on the land in question

From the Grant, Bargain & Sale Deed linked earlier in this thread, makes mention of Township 14 South, Range 69 East, Section 14 --> the particular 160 acres described as the S½ of the NE¼ and the N½ of the SE¼.

A search on the BLM GLO website for letters patent reveals one granted to Samuel W Darling on April 10, 1916 signed by Woodrow Wilson.
