I came to the Lord in 1973 "as one untimely born" at the tail end of the last great outpouring of the Holy Spirit in this country, called the Jesus Movement. Because of my spiritual roots in that movement, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for young people struggling to make a niche for their music in the American church. Because the style of music is sometimes difficult to pigeonhole, and to a lot of older Christians it may not sound like "hymns", they sometimes face an uphill battle.
I found Leeland's worship song "Beautiful Lord" to be truly beautiful, and in this brief interview on New Song Cafe, Leeland and co-writer Marc Byrd explain how the inspiration for the song came to them, and also how to play the song on a guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxbkmieiQ8o

Grower, on your page, I also found "Follow You" by Leeland with Brandon Heath.
I sure needed to hear these. Thank you!

Thank you grower, for yet another introduction to one I haven't
heard of....I'm listening to it all and enjoying very much. I, too, came to know the Lord in that time period....June of 1972.... I've actually heard "Beautiful Lord" before but no recall of where or when. Thank you again. |
